Colorado Trail Race Video
August 8, 2013
Brought quite a lot of camera gear along on the race....my Sony NEX-5N strapped to my chest, and my GoPro, which I kept in my Fuel Tank bag and would hold in my teeth whenever I wanted to film.....plus a ton of batteries and memory cards. Definitely slowed me down a bit with the added weight and frequent little stops to adjust the cameras and take pictures and video, but it was worth it. Ended up with 5 hours of raw footage, which I painstakingly edited down to this video. I wanted to capture the intensity and beauty of the experience, as well as the day-to-day reality: stopping to get food/water, camping, waking up at insane hours to ride, all the hike-a-bike....although I think the video makes the trail seem a lot smoother and more rideable than it was! Haha....hopefully it doesn't give false impressions and cause a bunch of people to try it who aren't prepared to spend 25% of the time hiking! Pretty happy with how it turned out.
I have so many photos to share and need to write a race report....but first I need a break from thinking about this race. I don't think I've fully digested the experience yet, it still seems so surreal. Video's done, time to get back to my real life for a bit. Race report will come eventually.
