I'm in Costa Rica!! The Adventure Racing World Championships are about to go down, and I'm here to photograph and film my buddies racing for Tecnu Adventure Racing - Garret Bean, Kyle Peter, Karen Lundgren, and Bob Miller. 65 teams of 4 people each will battle it out for 5-10 days through jungle, rivers, oceans, ziplines, snakes, mud, and volcanoes, traveling by mountain bike, foot, and kayak for a total of over 800 km.
Bob Miller, Karen Lundgren, Garret Bean, and Kyle Peter of Team Tecnu
The race starts Monday at 2pm local time on the Panama border. Teams will sprint about a kilometer to their bike boxes, build their bikes up, and then set off on a 8 hour bike leg. They'll finish that around 10 or 11pm, and then set off on a 12 hour kayak, and basically not stop moving for the next 6 days. I'll be chasing after them on foot as much as possible, following them through the jungles and up and over the highest peak in Costa Rica, Cerro Chirripo. Super excited, and we'll be posting up pictures and videos throughout the week on the team's Facebook page.
That's what 6 days worth of food looks like
